TheKingOfNorway from katharinefans.com recap

It was only eight-and-a-half minutes for her set, but I came all the way from Rochester, Minnesota to celebrate my birthday in my favorite city in the entire world, just to see one of my favorite singers in the entire world. Katharine McPhee has made me a VERY happy man!

Katharine's clearly a singer that continues to get better and better -- I loved her orignal spins on parts of "Black Horse and The Cherry Tree", so much that they're in my head as a definitive part of the song. She had the crowd clapping and dancing in the aisles. And for a girl with a bad wheel, and a huge boot on her foot, she moved FANTASTIC -- I just about died with the sexy McWiggle by the box-drummer! She's going to steam up the house and blow the roof off it with her hot moves and cool vocals when she's finally 100 percent healthy.

The thing that struck me the most about Katharine's set in Chicago was how much RESPECT she was given... I felt that Chris and Taylor got bigger, louder ovations and wilder reactions but on "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" there was a hush to hear every sweet note from Katharine's magical voice -- people around me were telling their kids to hush because THEY wanted to listen, and telling their kids to listen as well. Katharine again had the audience in the palm of her hands, and she did not disappoint... my heart broke again (and broke especially on this special day for me) with her rendition of what is now her signature song. I was completely breathless at the end as she walked off the stage.

The top ten Idols this year are some excellent vocalists, but the way the Chicago crowd lavished their praise, it was clear they feel that Katharine has the capacity to be a GREAT singer. It's hard to deny that Katharine is a STUNNING, STUNNING young woman, but what has kept me coming back for more, over and over again with endless replays on my MP3 player, is that this woman can SING!

And on a personal note: THANK YOU, KAT, for helping change my life in so many small ways! I will forever be a fan!

Shy from katharinefans.com recap

I was very Happy when I went to the Usher and he showed us where our seats were I was very excited We were right in the middle of the stage but back 19 rows, in section 2. (floor seats).  I was worried though because I am short and didnt know who was going to come and sit in front of me. Thank God that the family who came in sat their two younger girls in front of  me !!  I shared some glow sticks with them, and found out they liked Katharine & Chris. So that was gooooood. Next a older couple sat on the one side of me, which was cool cuz I knew she wasnt going to SCREAM the whole time. Anyway two Elliott and Chris fans on the other side of my Hubby.  Nobody I sat by seemed to know about Colors for the idols.  I wasnt seeing much of any one color.
Anyway, Mandisa started the show, she is very grateful and talked about the Love for Chicago cuz thats where she auditioned so it was special for her. She said she was looking for a Good Man. She sings strong, and she is very good.

Ace came on stage next and he is cute & sounds so much better live than I remember on AI show on TV. He was trying very hard to get the girls screaming. He was cute.

Lisa sounds pretty good, and she plays the keyboard really well. One day I can see her being compared to Alicia Keys. She is so young and she is going to be really something special in a few more years.

Paris was a little out of her element, I guess they wanted her to come accross as younger to appeal to a wider range of teens as well as other ages. I really thought she was great when she sang her old school songs. I dont really care for her Beyonce imitation, but she was cute, and got the crowd going a little bit more.

Bucky was good, and with some more experience on stage I think he will be great. I like Country music, so I always liked Bucky and I think he is so cute.

Kellie came out and sang with Bucky before he left the stage, they were good together they just didnt have a lot of spunk or something. She talked a little bit about how grateful she was and thanked everyone. She sang pretty good, I thought she was good.

After 1/2 hour break  "THE CONCERT REALLY STARTED"!~~

Chris came out and I will tell you the Allstate Arena ERUPTED!!!!!!! Chicago Loves Chris. The band seemed louder, the lights better, and Chris started with Whole Lotta Love by LZ it was awesome~  better than watching him on AI. He was good, and everytime Chris sang no matter when it was the rest of the concert the crowd seemed to go crazzzzzzy.

Elliott was very good too, and the crowd liked him  a lot too. He seemed a little horse, but he was pretty good, I really enjoyed Elliott.

OMGGGGGGG then the lights went dark and the WooooHoooo's started and everyone started clapping and singing with our KAT!!  I was so excited to see her, and I didnt want to take my eyes off of her for one second and I just sang with her, shouted wooohooooo so many times, while fumbling with two camera's trying to get some great pictures to share with everyone. I'm telling you my heart was pounding and she was so Beautiful and seemed so Happy!  As you can see from my pictures some of them are not what I expected because she moved around a lot from one side of the stage to the other. I wanted to get pictures of the signs, they were cool but by the time I focused on the crowd of course Kat went the other way and the fans put down the signs.  UGGG oh well she talked about loving to talk to the fans, and sing, and how she was still on voice restriction, and how she broke her foot. Then she said enough of that and went back to the mic to sing SOTR~
People  started standing up and whistling, and shouting woooohooo and i love you Kat <<<< that would be me, and she sounded like an angel. She got a great applauds by everyone, and a standing O it was so exciting I had tears, me & the lady next to me!  She just loved Kats voice. I will never forget the way I felt listening to her sing live. It was very special. I didnt want it to end, it was over so quickly.  Our girl is so talented I am so Proud!

Anyway then Taylor.........I must say he is entertaining, he had to follow Chris & Kat and that was not an easy task because CHICAGO was all into Chris & Kat for sure~!  Taylor gave props to the Troops and got the crowd going a little more then he sang Do I Make You Proud. He is good, and I enjoyed watching him and the Lady next to me.... Yep Crying like a baby~  it was so cute. One thing I dont get is the guitar he holds and strums because you can see the Lead guitarist is who is doing the playing. He danced and had a great time, and so did the crowd and thats what its all about.

All in all the concert was great, I had a lot of fun, it went too fast and they all are great at what they do. I wish I could see it again without taking pictures this time. I have many pictures of everyone if anyone is interested in seeing them. Kat's pictures are in the photo section I put a link to photobucket with the pics I have in there so far.  Enjoy them.
The end.

She was wearing a long black dress and sang Black Horse and SOTR. I didn’t think SOTR would work in a rock arena setting but I thought she pulled it off well. Kat is gorgeous and Chicago loved her. She told us she’s accident prone and talked about missing 3 weeks of the tour and her broken ankle. She said she was still on vocal rest and hoped we wouldn’t mind that she could only do two songs. I didn’t mind.
