katcrazy2006 from katharinefans.com recap part 1

Hey Everybody!!!!
I'm back from the Columbia, SC concert and what a wonderful time it was!!!! A number of late night dwellers were still in the chat room and we had a PLAY by PLAY of the night's events!! A good time was had by all! WOW, there's so much to say but since it's now 6:00 a.m., forgive me if I make no sense at all! LOL I may have to do this in two parts!

First of all, Kat looked stunning in a long black evening gown. As always, she looked very elegant and sounded great - but I noticed she wasn't moving quite as much during Cherry Tree. I was happy to hear her voice is improving with each concert. She put the growls and all the fun stuff back in BHACT tonight! I LOVED IT!!!

When she spoke to the crowd after the song, she said HEY YA'LL! She made a joke about it and it was too cute! They don't usually say that in LA but all the Southerns are winning her over!!! LOL Kat was very UP and so excited, like her early days on Idol. She talked about what a bummer it was for her to miss the first part of the tour because of vocal problems. But said she was determined that NOTHING was going to keep her from singing in COLUMBIA tonight!!! (Thank the Lord!!! If she has missed the concert, I'm afraid my family would have had to check me into a mental institution!!! He, He!!!!)

Kat laughed and said so have you heard the latest . . .
then she raised up her black dress, kicked out her leg and her foot was in a cast! Now I've fractured my FOOT!!!!! The crown went wild!!!! Nobody could believe it!!

She had the best attitude about it. She said nothing was going to hold her back if she had to hobble all over the stage and that's exactly what she did!!! LOL I've joked that she must live on an Indian Burial Ground or something! Now I'm starting to believe it!!! Bless her heart!! SOTR was gorgeous!!! No surprise there!!! However, you must watch for the waddle she does in the middle due to the foot boot! I almost cracked up and dropped the digital camera!! LOL

Somebody yelled out WE LOVE YOU KAT! Then some guy said YOU'RE LOOKIN' GOOD. We don't care if you hobble!!! She was just so precious about it and such a trooper! At the end of the song, she promised that the next time we see her, she will be doing more songs. In fact, she was suppose to do three tonight until the McPhoot problem!!!! LOL

When she left the stage, you see her waddling off from behind and it is really comical. Kat was laughing about her dilemma so that made everybody feel comfortable to laugh with her. She handled it like a pro! Several people around me said that poor girl has been through a lot. I thought, you have no idea - and her fans have gone through it with her every step of the way! During the group song, she couldn't do the "Richmond Shimmy" and/or Bump and Grind with Tay Tay. But she did dance and worked her way up and down that ramp! LOL

The best part, when she got center stage she was hopping on one foot and kicking her boot up with the other. She even came up with some new dance moves . . . especially the McHop and Twirl! Surely to be the new rage across the country!!!  I uploaded my very first video for my fellow KMF members!!! It's Kat telling about her fractured foot and SOTR. I just converted the video to wmv and uploaded it to a server where I do web design. Thought that was the fastest route since I'm brain dead!!!

I also have other videos to upload and funny stories to tell. While I was using the Digital camera, my friend was taking pictures with my 35mm. I plan to get those developed tomorrow and will post ASAP. So do drop back by this thread to read PART 2 of my review and see the goodies. You must hear the ingenious way I got upgraded seats and also what happened at the buses after the concert!! That's it for now, McPhans!! Your roving reporter is exhausted!

Hugs and kisses to all, Teilah

katcrazy2006 from katharinefans.com recap part 2

Hey Again!!!!

I'M BACK!!! Yes, your roving reporter had to get some much needed sleep (Kat nap) before continuing with the Columbia, SC concert review!!! First off, let me say how surprised I was to enjoy ALL the Idols last night!!! The entire show was very entertaining and their voices sounded so much more impressive LIVE!!! That is not always the case and such a disappointment when someone you admire isn't as good in person. After a number of the negative reviews I've read, I didn't quite know what to expect. Thankfully, the Colonial Center is fairly new and has a fabulous sound system.

The variety in the show and all the different vocal styles offers something for everybody. I especially enjoyed Mandisa (WOW, that woman can blow) and her uplifting testimony was quite touching!! Lisa - What a surprise!!! Especially on keyboard. Her voice sounded so much bigger LIVE. Of course, I enjoyed crowd favorites Chris and Elliott. I also have to say HATS OFF to Taylor for being such a fun and charismatic performer. While I know his dancing antics are considered spastic by some, you can't deny that his enthusiasm is contagious!!! He rocked the house in Columbia and that harmonica adds a lot of flare to his performance! I couldn't help but think of "Elvis the Pelvis" and how shocking his spontaneous moves were back in the day! Taylor has a touch of that same southern charm.

Now back to our girl . . . you know, Katharine McPhee?!!!!! LOL The viedo below is from the last group number, Livin' In America. Kat was a real trooper, with the McBoot and all! He, He! Unfortunately, I had to film from afar because the overhead screen didn't feature the Idols. Just some kind of colorful graphics. Bummer! They are all moving around the stage so I did my best!! You must watch for Kat's antics and especially right near the end when she is doing what I affectionately call the McHop across the stage while kicking her booted foot!!! It was a hoot to see it LIVE! A touching moment happened after the song was over.

Tay Tay walked over and took Kat's hand. There is a special double door located center stage. He patiently lead Kat to the center door. Put his arm around her back, opened the door for her and then let her enter first. Such a gentleman. It was very sweet and protective of him. (I couldn't help but wonder what might have happened behind closed doors!!! LOL) They were the ONLY two to leave that way. The rest of the Idols left via stage left or stage right. Someone in the chat room last night suggested that Taylor should just carry Kat off or throw her over his shoulder!! Would that be a hoot or what?!!!! Just imagine the Soul Patrols reaction to that!!! LOL

Now you must hear about my very unexpected seating upgrade!! SirCritic said it was ingenious!! (Thanks, Sir!) Since Kat didn't join the tour until last week, I bought my tickets late so they were in the nose bleed section. Kind of to the side of the stage where I couldn't get any good shots. Sniff, Sniff! As you all know, I was signed up to cover the Columbia concert for KMF and I take my responsibilities very seriously!!!  Well . . . I made this VERY official looking badge with kat's pic on it and my name as ASSIGNED MEDIA COVERAGE for Katharinefans.com!!!!!! LOL I know, I'm completely crazy but anything for Kat!!!

So as soon as the show started, I left my seat and went in search of the perfect spot to get some great pics. As I was looking around, I spoke to one the attendants and said I was with KMF and was having trouble getting good shots because my view was obstructed. She was so nice and a Kat fan too. I said it's my responsibility to get good media for the site and I don't want to let them down. Can you help me????? (with my most charming smile) She said I can't get you on the floor because that whole area is roped off. However . . .

I can let you use the seating in the Handicapped area which is very nice and faces center stage. We have several empty seats there tonight!!! Of course, I said that would be wonderful as long as she was sure it wasn't a problem!!!!!!!!! She took me right over there and I had the best view in the world, lots of space to stretch out and a rail in front of me to help steady the camera. What an unexpected blessing!!! Guess my little badge really helped after all!!!

At intermission, she said I could have my friend join me there!! Is that great or what!! We met this precious little older couple seated next to us. The lady was a huge Taylor fan but said her husband just tolerates it and comes along as her escort. She told us he spends most of his time at the concession stand so she was thrilled we were there to share the experience. She loved seeing the video and stuff and kept saying WHEN is Taylor coming out. Every time the lights dimmed, she thought it was him!!! LOL I said not until the end!!!

Bless her heart, she was just precious. The best part was when the concert was over, she said how wonderful that you work for Katharine!!!!! LOL I never told her that but of course, I saw no need to correct her!!!! LOL I simply said, "it's my pleasure. A true labor of love!" Now the BUSES portion of my concert journey!!!! After the show, I ran home which was nearby. Downloaded my video and drove back over about an hour later giving them time for the After Party. Quite a few fans were gathered but we couldn't locate where the Idol buses were. They were in a restricted area.

The Idols didn't sign autographs like they have in some places. Guess it all depends on where the buses are located and IF fans can find them as the Idols are boarding. It's a hit or miss! Finally, we saw several buses leaving the Colonial Center. Everybody started screaming like crazy as the buses went by!!! To our delight, the last bus stopped right in front of me and the fans gathered there. They opened the front doors and Chris stuck his head out to shout to the crowd!!! WOW!! Suddenly, THERE SHE WAS!!! Kat right behind Chris and waving to the fans. I nearly died!!! He, He!!!!

She is so beautiful in person and was only about 10 feet away!! OMG!! The funniest part is Kellie was behind her acting like she was going to push Kat out of the bus and they were laughing like school girls!!! LOL That would have been wild if they pushed Kat out there!!! Talk about a captive!! She couldn't even run with that bum foot! LOL It all happened in a flash and they were gone!!! WOW, at least I got to see Kat for a brief wonderful moment!!! What a special night!!!  I intend to post pics of the buses so future McPhans will KNOW which ones to look for. You might get lucky like Jennie did!

Another funny footnote - a few people suggested that the Idols might stop somewhere to eat and we should follow them, but none of them had a car nearby. I thought to myself, WELL I DO!!!!! LOL My car was right there because remember I drove back over after the show. McPhans, I hopped in the car and got right behind the Idols and the Pop Tart Truck!!!! LOL Can you believe? I figured if they did stop, I could bring you all some truly amazing pics and goodies. However, they just drove straight to the interstate so I returned home without an autograph!! Sniff, sniff!

The $20.00 Program book is huge and absolutely gorgeous! I also got an 8 x 10 of Kat and several Kat buttons . . . and we must not forget about the complimentary Pop Tart! For now, I guess that will have to do!

Hugs and kisses to all, Teilah
