It was one of my greatest pleasures in life to attend tonights concert in Richmond, VA. As the Idols counted down toward KAT, I grew more and more excited.
After Elliott finished his set, the lights darkened and I held my breath because I knew what was coming.
After 15 seconds of darkness, all you heard in the arena was "2, 3, 4, woohoo." Time for Black Horse and the Cherry Tree!!!! KAT came out in the same white dress that she wore in Washington DC the night before. She literally floated down the ramp to the stage where she proceeded to wave to the crowd while still performing. There was no evidence of voice strain at all which was quite a relief. People were literally dancing to Black Horse which thrilled me to no end.
After Black Horse, KAT grabbed the microphone and proceeded to apologize for missing three weeks of the tour. She stated that she regretted letting her fans down. She then told the crowd that she would only be performing one more song (Somewhere Over The Rainbow) due to doctors orders.
KAT thanked us for giving her such a warm welcome to Elliott's hometown. She even called it the warmest welcome she had received so far!!!!
While KAT performed Rainbow, I looked at the reactions of the crowd. I saw tears running down some cheeks. As for me, I sat there mesmerized by the beauty of KAT's voice. How clear and crisp it sounded to me. By the end, I was waiting for the crowd reaction. A sustained standing ovation that I had NEVER heard before (other than for hometown boy Elliott) ensued. I watched KAT's reaction and was struck by how affected she was. She didn't cry but I sure did (in joy)!
KAT was present for the final portion of the concert. She participated in the choreography of We Are the Champions (all 9 Idols without Taylor) and Living in America (all 10 Idols together). She had a big smile on her face that lit up the arena. You could tell she was genuinely happy to be back with her Idol friends!
KAT will eventually sing more than two songs in concert. But for right now, she seems rather content in singing songs that compliment her voice "difficulty". Those of you who will see her later in the tour are in for a treat. She has the ultimate combination: beauty and an amazing talent that must be seen to be believed. On to Greensboro!
