Katharine06idol from katharinefans.com recap

Well!!! i must say that last night was one of THE most amazing nights EVER! i just love katharine mcphee! ha

N-E-way! we had GREAT seats, and when we got in there, melissa mcghee sat 2 rows in front of me and her mom was right behind me, so we chatted a little--melissa was really sweet. okay okay, moving on to the most IMP. part of the evening--KAT! [Smile]

okay, so i had after party passes, and let me tell you...i was so excited you do not even know! i realized after the fact that i hadn't eaten anything but a breakfast sandwich and 2 diet cokes the entire day and night--but i nibbled on a few crackers on the way home from tampa...ha hey, after Kat was gone, i could focus on other things and i realized i was hungry...haha!

OKAY, so, first all the rest performed...blah blah...then you hear..."whooo-hoooo" and the crowd goes CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY! i have the video, but it's 113MB and every site will only let me upload 100MB...problem is that it kept recording for about 10 seconds longer than needed, so i am trying to figure out how to edit it and get those 10 seconds off so i can post it...until i do that, it's kat singing BHCT & SOTR and a LOT of screaming in the backround--there is also a little blurb where she is talking about her memories of tampa from when she studied there for 2 summers while in high school. if you want to see it, e-mail me at dreamnbelieve1@aol.com and i will just e-mail it to you, until i can figure out how to edit this thing--i have tried everything that i can think of at this point, so that's the next best option. anyway, when she was on stage, i was so excited that i was seeing her LIVE that i didn't notice how many people were actually freaking out during her performance! she was DEFINITELY well-received in tampa, THAT'S for sure! i DO have a few clips from the finale that i will post however--she looked as if she was hobbling a bit more during the finale, and probably in pain, but she's a trooper and you could BARELY tell the rest of the show that she was in a boot!

okay, SO, after the show, danielle and i went to the afterparty--no kellie and no elliot--both evidently under the weather--kellie didn't perform--laryngitis--doctor's orders--no talking. she WAS at the meet and greet but she left at intermission, or so we were told. right before intermission, bucky brought her out to wave to everybody in her hoodie and sweatpants--she was cute. i am all over the place with this post, huh? ha

okay, so we go backstage and first paris comes in...i am watching...watching...in suspense...where's kat??? in comes mandisa, ace...okayyyyy *tapping fingers on the table, whereeeee is kat?* HERE SHE COMES! yay kat! haha i am a dork. okay, so kat was sitting at a table, for obvious reasons. we made a beeline straight over to her, since obviously that was the only reason IIIII was there! [Smile] she's absolutely gorgeous, flawless, however you want to say, she's it! we chatted smalltalk for a few minutes and we felt like we were hogging her from the others, and she's like, nooooooo, come on now! and kept talking--she was signing, talking, taking pics--she was such a sweetheart! you almost feel like you are pals with them, just chatting about nothing--it was very cool for us, even though they meet like 1000s of fans on this tour. i was trying to be cool of course--i didn't want to see like one of those fanatic freaks that we are all afraid of, so i kept cool...don't remember half of it, but i kept cool...ha i just HOPE i told her what an amazing job she did out there--she is so incredibly talented--it's no wonder she takes her dad's breath away every time she sings--she's simply A-MA-ZING...in every sense of the word...that's truly it. i didn't want to sit there and say, hey kat, did you get this, or that, because i am sure she has received SOOOOOOO many things from fans, that i just wanted to talk to her, not ask her if she received things from me, ya know? there were so many things i wanted to say, but i don't think i said half of them! ha i thought about them though--after the fact...oh well--hopefully there will be more times in the future to hang and chat with K-Dawg...ha...and next time i will have to make a list! [Tongue]

I DO have to say, that the security guard that was there--you will NOT be able to miss him if you are going to the concert...he is ALLLLLLLL over her!!! not in a gross way, but just very pushy and authoritative and way too overprotective. i mean it's awesome that they are protected...that kat is anyway...the others were totally on their own, wandering around sitting with fans, chatting! anyway, one girl called a friend and asked kat to talk, and she took the phone and say HEEEY! and then that guard was right on her--she can't talk on cell phones! but about 5 feet away you have ace talking up a storm to some fan on the phone and even recorded a little video clip for another fan who wasn't there. it was just a little odd if you ask me. i was just SO excited to meet and chat with kat, that i was happy. [Smile] she's such a sweet girl--very real--who couldn't love her???? i just don't get that at all!

i think that's all for now...i am just so grateful to have had this opportunity--it was just...A-MA-ZING...did i mention that??? ha

can't wait to read all the rest of the recaps--wish i could be at her homecoming--man that's going to be an awesome show--she'll hopefully be singing everything by then!

What a long day yesterday was.  I think I arrived at the St. Pete Times Forum at around 12:00. I waited, waited, and waited to hear about meet and greet passes or after party passes, but apparantly you had to be on Piesha's list to get in. I didn't get a chance to meet Katharine at either one of those.

The concert was amazing. As soon as we heard the American Idol theme song we started screaming and clapping like crazy.  Oh my goodness when I heard that 2, 3, 4 I started jumping up and screaming really loud. I couldn't see Katharine at first, but she was really great. After she sang Black Horse and the Cherry Tree she made a speech about how she still could only do two songs because she's still in recovery, and about how she fractured her foot, and she lifted up her foot so we could see her cast. She said that she wasn't crying; it was just her make-up, but I think she did get a little teary-eyed. I was screaming We Love You Katharine throughout her entire performance.  I think everyone was just in awe over her next and last song Somewhere Over the Rainbow.  It was so exciting to see her perform live.

Both Katharine and Taylor got standing ovations after they performed. Then the big finale was Living in America, with Katharine and Taylor. Katharine and Taylor were up on the ramp, and I thought it was cute how Taylor had his arms up and was dancing over to Katharine.  But Katharine didn't have any interest in dancing with Taylor at this concert. She looked like her foot was bothering her because she didn't do much of anything in Living in America. She was probably in pain; she's amazing at what she does. She never gives up; I hope nothing else happens to her on this tour. lol.  Mandisa helped her walk down the ramp, and they all chipped in, which was really sweet.

The best part was after the concert was over... I saw a little girl who was jumping up and down and screaming because she couldn't get in to the after party to meet Katharine. She wasn't going to leave until she met Katharine. I thought it was really touching that they let her and her mom in.  I will tell all of you this was one night that I will never forget.

...Ellliott waved to then and i started jumping and waving and he looked at me and waved!i was like "i'm going to faint" lolthen he left and it was dark and when i heard "2, 3, 4" i screamed at the top of my lungs and out came katharine she was beautiful and you could tell her voice was not 100% but she was getting better then she explained how tampa is very speical to her cause she started her work as an artist and performer here and it was the first place in florida she went to and randomly people were screaming and i did a couple and she waved at me one time and i had a huge smile on my face and then i shut my eyes and i was like "faint, i know i'm gonna faint" and then this guy yelled out "KATHARINE YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL" really loud it was pretty funny and she was like aww but anyway she did somewhere over the rainbow and it was awesome then she left...

Idol fans get their fix

SEAN DALY

American Idol - the No. 1 show in the nation, that titanic topic of watercooler hubbub for five straight seasons now - invaded Tampa on Sunday with its live tour, stuffing a soldout St. Pete Times Forum with 16,534 fanatics.

Let's get this straight: This one was critic-proof. If the concert - which featured nine of 10 finalists from this season's show - proved to be as aw-shucks cheeseball and addictively watchable as the TV program, then it would be a success. After all, nobody bought a ticket to American Idols Live! expecting substance; talent is merely a bonus in this popularity contest. Katharine McPhee appeared in a long black dress and showing serious decolletage.

This season's runnerup, McPhee often seemed too polished on the boob tube. But at the Times Forum, she displayed a genuine superstar grace. She commanded near-silence for her dang-sexy rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which earned her a standing ovation.

She really was more than I had ever hoped for. There were so many Soul Patrollers at the Forum, I think Kat was overjoyed to see me because I was one of the few Diehard Kat phans there and probably the only diehard that managed to get in the meet and greet, lol. When I told her I was a huge fan and how special I thought she is, she beemed and lit up right away. She seemed genuinely flattered and Sweet.. I asked if I could hug her, and Kat looked around and started to get up and lean toward me, and Mcsecurity meanie Yelled at me and reminded me no Touching or Taking pics with any of the Idols. So Kat whispered I'm sooo sorry to me, and I shook her hand instead and I told her she's sooo sweet. She touched her heart and whispered thank you sooo much..and made this cute expression and giggled. Then I passed out unconscious.. jk

She signed 3 photos for me, and personalized one to me and thanked me for my support and wrote Love Katharine Mcphee!! I also gave her a Mcnote when I was being escorted away from the table by security, lmao so Taylor saw the note and said this is for Kat, and I said yeah so he was nice enough to hand it to her for me!!!

akamissa from katharinefans.com recap

Then Katharine’s two, three, four brought everyone to their feet as she emerged from the top of the stage.Everyone was in awe, including myself at her voice and her beauty.  After BHCT she mentioned that she would only do two songs and told us about her fractured foot.  She then sang SOTR and I couldn’t help myself from screaming out her name and yelling “The Kat Pack is Here!”  She looked in my direction and smiled that beautiful smile of hers.  After the song she got another standing ovation and what an unbelievable feeling it was to be part of this.

Katharine’s voice was so clear, so perfect.  I’ve never heard a person sing like our Katharine and actually hear every single word.  I still have goose bumps!  She is stunning, more so in the flesh and she (from what the fans with back stage passes said) is such a sweetheart.  I also met the people that cater food to the Idols while they’re on tour and they said that Katharine is such a nice girl.

After the show, we stuck around a bit and there was this little girl crying because she didn’t get to meet Katharine.  It turned out that this little girl was the daughter of Katharine’s vocal coach when she studied here in Tampa.  Her mom told the security people (who were very tight) that it was her daughter’s birthday.  A little while afterwards, one of the security personnel came back and said that Katharine had requested her to come back stage.  The look on this little girl’s face was priceless.  After the meeting, I talked to her and her mom and took some pictures of this lovely little girl named Faith.  This is what it’s all about.  Katharine is a role model for all the little girls out there….and even us older folks who simply adore her.

danihami at IDF recap

I got that rush of excitement when I heard the, "TWO, THREE, FOUR!" She was much more subdued doing BHACT but honestly, everything from her being on stage is such a blur. I had a poster that my friend Kim had given me so I held it up and Kat came over to squint and read it.

Between her songs she explained about her foot and showed off her cast and there was an audible gasp in the audience, I couldn't have made that up. I got the impression that most people didn't know about it (and I don't know how that's possible, it seems like it was all over the news). But maybe they were just saying "awww".

She talked some more about how she loves Tampa because she went to a camp here with a lot of Broadway stars and she felt like Tampa was where she really nurtured her craft and developed as a performer.

After "Rainbow" she got a standing ovation (she didn't do the false ending) and it was over way too soon for me.

The afterparty: As soon as I saw Kat come in I made a beeline for her because I'd heard they don't let her stay very long at the after parties. I had her sign some things for people we'd met before the concert that wouldn't get to meet her. It was all kind of a blur but I asked if she'd gotten the CD I'd given to Elliott earlier for her and she looked confused at first until I described it and she said she'd seen it on the bus but didn't know it was for her. She laughed and said Elliott was the worst person to give things to because he always forgot or they got lost. Then I mentioned the little dry erase board and pack of colored markers I'd bought for Kellie and Kat lit up and said "That was from you?! We love it! We've already been drawing on it and using it!" Then we talked about the third song and the connection to her broken foot. Her third song was supposed to be "Think" but since it was so upbeat, she couldn't move around the stage with her clunky boot and sing it at the same time.

She was SO bubbly and sweet but there were a lot of other people there who wanted to talk to her so I said we didn't want to hog her anymore. But I know she would've kept talking to us if we hadn't let her go.
